The Rerooting In African History program 2021 pt 2 with the theme “Journey of Africa’s Giant” is a four weeks virtual course that will explore colonialism, the quest for independence, post-colonial nation-building issues, and contemporary issues in nation-building from the Nigerian context. This edition is the third since the inception of the Rerooting In African History Program that seeks to expose and immerse Africans and non-Africans in African-centered and social justice perspectives of Africa/global Black history.

An opportunity to learn about African History from a perspective that reveals the rich and diverse pre-colonial existence of Africans. The course will be facilitated by a diverse faculty made up of university professors, independent researchers, social activists, and public intellectuals from various parts of the world.
Connect with others course participants who are on the same journey of deepening their knowledge about African history, social justice, and decolonization. The course offers a unique opportunity to meet and connect with enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about African history and culture. You will not only unlearn, learn and relearn with other participants, but you will also be able to identify potential collaboration opportunities towards creating a just and inclusive society.
The course will challenge participants to explore ways to use their newly acquired skills for social action. Beginning from a relentless pursuit to know and reclaim your roots, you will increase your capacity to advocate for a just and inclusive society at a continental and global level.
All the classes are virtual (via Zoom) and highly interactive. Sessions will be delivered as individualized presentations or panel discussions. In between and at the end of every module, there will be sustained class engagement and guided personal reflection exercises on online platforms(Google Classroom and a Whatsapp group).
