In preparation for Unveiling Africa’s “I am, We are” empowerment program, students have been working hard to raise funds. Three schools are involved in this year’s program; Corona Secondary schools, Supreme Education Foundation (SEF) schools and Murtala Mohammed Airport Schools. Car wash and a mufti-day are some of the techniques being used by the students to raise funds.
On the 8th of May, SEF planned a mufti-day at school, where students are allowed to wear mufti at the rate of N1000. UVA ambassadors made a whole day of it, as they organized a brief talent shows, with performances such as singing, rapping and dancing. It was a fun filled afternoon, and they were able to raise an incredible N110,000 that day. SEF will be holding their “I am, We are” empowerment program at Agindingbi secondary school on the 20th of May. Along with the students of the host school, UVA teenagers will embark on a beautification project.
Murtala Mohammed Airport Schools students decided to use the car wash as one of their fundraising mechanism. On the 15th of May, they organized the car wash at their school premises. UVA ambassadors and other students got busy washing parents
and teachers cars to raise funds. There was a lot soap, water and most importantly fun. The students were able to raise N23, 000 on the day. All the funds will go into a sanitation project with AZ International School on the 22nd of May.
