Today marks the last day of the UVA Days of Change campaign. What better way to sign off the campaign than to volunteer for a good cause. Teenagers were tasked to offer their services to an organization aimed at a good cause for the community around them. As expected, our leaders and change makers stepped up to the task one last time. They submitted entries that were interesting, inspiring and touching. Here are a few of the great responses UVA received:
UVA had great help from teenagers as they came out in their numbers to help plan and prepare for the Grand finale tomorrow. From David Lewis who took time out to represent UVA in an interview with NTA, to John Lewis who assisted in setting up the sound system. From Mubarak rehearsing his act for tomorrow to Sheila assisting in setting up the hall for tomorrow. They were all great help.
Ayomide Abagun performed his task by visiting an orphanage. There, he donated toiletries and had fun with the kids. Auchi Poly Amebo all the way in Edo state shared his experience with us: “Guess where i went to this afternoon? MAMA HOPE RESTAURANT, located at Sabo, Iyakpi , Auchi, Edo state, to volunteer in her Cooking…. I did a lot today, I mean, I had fun wow… If e no b UVA who e go b…. When I went there… I did d cleaning, washing of dishes, pounding of yam, but I helped also in preparation of some meals… Can you imagine…They say, what a woman can do, a man can do extra beta…. See me pounding today, u go hail, But pounding is not a day job o… U must have a lot of strength to handle d pestle”
As we end a wonderful week of action, leadership, motivation and education, UVA would like to throw a big shout out to everyone who helped to make this maiden Days of Change campaign a success. From the active teenager participants to the very capable UVA team. We have been humbled by amount of support received. We are truly grateful.
