G ood day change-makers! Today, UVA would like us to discuss the great teenagers and young adults of history. The strong-willed youth who defied the norm to make great impact on the world. Through their actions they thrust themselves into great responsibilities at a very young age.
Did you know that Alexander The Great, was only 16 when he founded his first colony and named it Alexandruopolis? He would go on to be one of the most successful military commanders of all time. How about Joan of Arc who led France to victory over the English in the Hundred Years’ War? She was martyred at age 19.
In recent times, we have Malala Yousafzai, who through sheer stubbornness and strong will defied the Taliban to prove that education is every child’s right.
These are just a few great individuals who started at a very young age.
Often as teenagers or young adults in Nigeria, we are clouded with doubts about our capacity to make meaningful impact in the country. There is the myth that you have to be a working adult with a family of your own in order to affect some of the affairs of the country.
Unveiling Africa Foundation seeks to use the Days Of Change campaign to show Nigerians all over the world that age, place or time is never a barrier. You can start wherever you are using what you have to do what you can.
